Problems We Solve
My Denture Is Uncomfortable, or I Don’t Want to Wear Dentures
Unlike those artificial teeth of the past, today’s dentures are more natural-looking and comfortable than ever. Our practice offers removable, partial, and implant-supported dentures. Whether you’re experiencing discomfort with your current dentures or seeking an alternative solution, we have a range of options to suit your needs.
Types of Dentures We Offer
Removable
Removable dentures are an affordable and time-tested option for replacing multiple teeth. Many patients appreciate the flexibility of being able to remove their dentures for cleaning and while they sleep. These appliances are designed to fit snugly in your mouth yet can be easily taken out when needed.
Implant-Supported
Implant-supported dentures provide more stability compared to removable ones. This approach secures the dentures to dental implants, eliminating slippage and providing a secure fit. Patients treat implant-supported dentures just like natural teeth, allowing them to chew, laugh, and talk without fear of their dentures falling out.
Partial
Partial dentures are often a good, affordable approach for patients who still have many of their natural teeth. The appliance is clasped onto the patient’s natural teeth by a metal frame, providing a secure and comfortable fit while filling in the gaps left by missing teeth.
What to Expect
New dentures can feel awkward or uncomfortable during the initial weeks. It might take some practice to eat and speak comfortably, and it’s common to feel a bit bulky or loose as the muscles in your cheeks and tongue adjust. You may also experience increased saliva flow, a sensation that your tongue lacks adequate room, and minor irritation or soreness. If you encounter any discomfort or irritation, please inform Dr Henry (Dentist).
Alternatives to Traditional Dentures
If you’re seeking an alternative to dentures, we offer the following advanced solutions:
Digital Implants
DIOnavi® digital navigation dental implant surgery provides a more comfortable and permanent solution compared to traditional dentures. This technology allows our dentists to determine the optimal way to proceed with your implants while minimising discomfort and maximising convenience.
With DIOnavi digital navigation, only a small hole is required to place the implant, avoiding the need for messy moulds or impressions. This precise guide allows for the discovery of the safest and best path to surgery, determining the placement of your osseous tissue and nerves so that we can complete the procedure more efficiently.
The flapless nature of DIOnavi makes it suitable for many people who would otherwise not be eligible for dental implants, including those with diabetes, mental or systemic diseases, or high blood pressure.
All-on-4® Dental Implants
The All-on-4 treatment provides an innovative solution for obtaining a fixed full-arch prosthesis. This procedure utilises four titanium screws as artificial tooth roots. The two posterior implants are angled at 45 degrees to address bone deficiencies at the back of the jaws, eliminating the need for bone grafting.
With All-on-4, you don’t need an implant for every missing tooth. Instead, four strategically placed implants along the jawline serve as a stable foundation for a full row of teeth. We use crowns and bridges to create natural-looking prosthetics that function and feel like your real teeth.
The Benefits of All-on-4
At our practice, we always prioritise the oral health and smile needs of our patients. Here are some of the many advantages of this modern method:
- Boasts a success rate of 98%, higher than traditional implant procedures
- Aims to prevent the need for bone grafting
- The procedure is relatively quick, with total oral restoration completed in under 3 hours, unlike traditional implantology, which can take multiple appointments to finish
- Restorations look and function like natural teeth and are easy to preserve and clean
- More affordable compared to alternative implant treatments, such as receiving bone grafting and the placement of four implants
