Veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material that are bonded to the front of the tooth (the part people see when you smile). They are ideal for improving the appearance of front teeth—they can close gaps, lengthen small teeth, correct the shape of misshapen teeth, and whiten teeth that have become stained or darkened over time.

At Red Hill Dental, we’re proud to offer custom veneers for our patients’ every need. Because veneers are individually sculpted for each patient, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth. While veneers are often thought of as a cosmetic procedure, they do provide functional benefits:

• When teeth are chipped or beginning to wear, veneers protect them from further damage, and help to restore their original function.
• An uneven alignment of teeth can lead to teeth-grinding, which can cause damage, including stress fractures. Veneers fix this uneven alignment, preventing teeth-grinding and its associated problems.
• With veneers, the patient’s natural teeth remain largely intact, with only a minimal alteration to fit the veneer. An added benefit: because they are made of high-tech materials, veneers resist staining.

What to Expect

Our experienced cosmetic dental surgeon, Dr Henry Ho takes a step-by-step approach to veneers or any cosmetic service. We begin with a consultation to discuss your smile goals. Dr Henry considers your whole face to determine what cosmetic services will work best for you. He’ll also assess your bite and any grinding patterns to help him determine how to protect your veneers.

He’ll take photos and a record of your bite to create models, which are sent to the lab. You’ll go to the lab to meet with them and tell them exactly what your goals are, so they can make a mockup tailored to your desires.

The lab will send the mockup to us, and we’ll bring you in for a second appointment. You’ll be able to try on the veneers and see what they look like. This is an important step, because some patients love the look in a photo, but when they see the teeth in their mouth, it’s not what they want.

Only when you are 100% happy with the veneers will we begin working on your teeth! At your third appointment, we’ll remove a small amount of tooth material to fit your veneers. We’ll bond them to your teeth, and you’ll be on your way with your beautiful new smile.
